Hey guys! This last week has been hectic. My husband had to go out of town for work, my sister and her family is here, we had Easter, and I had finals. Your girl is tired. I haven’t been doing much makeup since I’ve been sitting in front of my computer more than I have been out to face the world. So when I did finally emerge from my finals coma I wanted to get into my new Lavish palatte. I’ve seen this palatte used by beauty vloggers on Youtube for quite sometime and I finally ordered it online. There are so many beautiful colors in this palatte but my favorite is Pink Sapphire. I’ll do a look with that color later. Today’s look is my go to look for when I want to look a little polished and a little sexy with out looking like I’m trying too hard. Keep reading for step by step instructions on how I achieved this look.
Step One: Moisturize and Prime
Before I start applying my makeup I moisturize my face, including my lips and then apply primer. I use Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour hand cream to moisturize my face. I know it seems like a bit much, especially since I have oily/combo skin, but there is a method to my madness. I have several fine lines under my eyes from years of squinting, sun damage and genetics. When I apply products under my eye with out adding extra moisturizer, the skin under my eyes looks crepy and the make up creases. By adding a thick cream under my eyes, the skin absorbs the moisture and the cells plump up, helping to eliminate the crepiness and creasing. I add lip balm to so my lips can be conditioning while I work on the rest of my face. Currently my go to primer is Smashbox Oil Free primer and I primed my eyes with Painterly Paint Pot from MAC.
Step Two: Applying Eye Shadow and Liner
My next step is to apply Orange Soda and Sienna from the Anastasia Beverly Hills Lavish Palate into my crease.
On my lid I placed Cream and in my tear duct I used a pencil brush to apply some of MAC’s tan pigment.
Then I lined the base of my lashes with Loreal’s Infallabile Laquer Liner in Navy. I choose navy over black because I wanted definition with out being bold. This is also why I didn’t line my entire lash line or wing it out. On my bottom lash line I used a pencil brush and the color Truffle from the Lavish palatte.
Step Three: Foundation and concealer
After I do my eyes I apply my foundation and concealer. By now my moisturizer and primer have had enough time to be absorbed by my skin and I can get the maximum benefit from the products. The foundation I used this day was NARS Sheer Glow in the color Cadiz and my concealer is MACs Pro Long wear in NW 35. I like to use the NW 35 because is has orange undertones that help counteract the dark circles under my eyes.
Step Four: Brows and Lashes
I like to do my brows and lashes while my foundation sets. This way when I apply my setting powder later the foundation has had a chance to sink in and the powder will not cake up when I apply it. For my brows I used the color Coquette from MAC (the photo below is one brown done and one undone), and the mascara I used is from Tarte and its called Lights Camera Flashes.
Step Five: Set, Bronze, Blush, Glow
Now that my eye brows and lashes are done I am ready to set my foundation. I used Rimmel’s Stay Matte Translucent powder to set both my foundation and concealer. To bronze and contour I used the bronzing side of my Flower Blush/Bronzer Duo in BD3 Glow Baby Glow. For my bronzing/contouring I use a small foundation brush that came with a different Flower product to place the color and then I use my MAC 109 brush to blend it out. I’m using a cool tone blush from Tarte called Bedazzle and to highlight I used NARS Albatross (I forgot a pic of this step).
Step Six: Lips
We’ve made it to the end. The red lip is classy, sexy, and cool. I used MAC’s Cherry lip liner and Lime Crime’s Red Velvet matte gloss. If you haven’t tried Lime Crime’s matte glosses I highly reccomend you give them a try. The only one I currently own is the Red Velvet and I love it. It goes on like a gloss but is more opaque than a lot of lipsticks. When it goes on it has a little bit of shine but when it dries it is matte.
